Fred Perry Championships

The Fred Perry Championships are returning to The Brentham Club on 21st and 22nd September 2024

The Fred Perry Championships was relaunched in 2019 with the objective of providing young tennis players with the opportunity to play in a junior tennis event that reflected the personality and values of the great Fred Perry himself; the three times Wimbledon champion.

From day one the tournament has proved to be extremely popular with young tennis players around the country and has been massively over-subscribed every year. In order to accommodate more players in 2020 six regional qualifying events in Manchester, Nottingham and Brighton were introduced, with the winners and runners up qualifying to play in The Fred Perry Championships finals at the Brentham Club, Pitshanger Park and Gunnersbury Park, where the qualifiers are joined by the top 12 highest ranked players in each age group.

One of the unique characteristics of the tournament is that all the regional qualifying events are played in public parks or community clubs. The community focus continues at the finals, with a tennis coaching clinic lead by the Wimbledon Head Coach Dan Bloxham; local youngsters from the Fred Perry Community program run by the Brentham Club are invited to join the tournament players for a world-class coaching clinic.

The Brentham Club itself is the natural home for the final matches of the tournament as Brentham was also home to a young Fred Perry as he was developing as a player. These finals are all live streamed on the Fred Perry website and can be viewed from around the world. The fortunate winners are awarded a year's supply of tennis clothing by Fred Perry and a unique medal based on the medal that Fred Perry himself received for winning Wimbledon.

The early success of the tournament has been followed by a Community Tennis Program, where Fred Perry refurbishes run down tennis courts in public parks around the country and introduces a free tennis coaching program on the courts for local children of every standard. The Brentham Club has embraced this community program and children from three local schools enjoy the chance to be regularly coached at Brentham.
